Coordinator: Core Facilitator’s Team and Coordinator with Punjabi Youth Circle
Mihret Zewude is an immigrant woman from Ethiopia and a registered social worker based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She has several years of experience working with Refugee, Immigrant and Indigenous communities in Winnipeg. Mihret also has experience working as a program coordinator and clinical counselor, developing and providing group and one-on-one counseling to newcomer and immigrant women who were experiencing gender-based violence.
For the past few years, Mihret’s work has focused on children, youth and families. She currently works as a case manager providing holistic supports and services to children and families connected to the provincial Child and Family Services. Mihret is also the youth and young adults team lead for Excel Youth and the Family Society of Winnipeg. Through this role, she helps to coordinate and facilitate many events and programs to empower as well as provide information and resources to the Ethiopian and Eritrean community in Winnipeg.
